It improves performance in the following way: You load something, like a model and textures, into the eSRAM from the main RAM and start drawing the object very quickly. While this drawing is going on you load the next item into eSRAM. You try to draw as many items a possible this way.

It's nothing like the 8GB DDR3/32MB ESRAM situation on the original Xbox One. The majority of the memory available to developers is faster as a result of this decision than if they had gone with a 448 GB/s 256-bit interface, and as you say, 336 GB/s is still plenty for the 'slower' memory pool.
For any experts in computer hardware, how much would 32 MB of eSRAM impact the Xbox One's memory speed? I remember reading a post by Albert Penello saying that it increases the speed by 204 GB/s. Is that true?
Jan 11, 2015 · It looks like the complaint about ESRAM being to small is due to it still being DirectX 11. It will be interesting to see what parts of DirectX 12 the developers choose to use and to see how the ESRAM is being used in the future.

Jul 14, 2013 · The eSRAM will help in making sure that the DDR3 is running at its full speed the entire time by acting as a 32 Meg buffer. 2GB of data / frame is an enormous amount. Current gen consoles are getting by with their amazing graphics with about 256-512 Megs of graphical data.
Oct 25, 2013 · It is not the same setup, esram is more versatile than edram, developers can do 'more things' with esram on Xbox One than edram on Xbox 360, but it looks like esram need some attetion from developers than edram. But we don't know how hard to use is the new embedded memory.
